Hi Cheryl: This is my 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo SS454 with your TKO600 5-speed behind my throttle-body fuel-injected 454 motor. I have had it on the road since February 2018 and have put about 2000 miles on it this Summer and absolutely love it. Best regards, John Engle
MoreJesse called us after trying 2-3 other aftermarket shifters that all leaked. He heard about our new STX® shifters that just hit the market and this is what he had to say after installing his new STX short throw shifter: Jeff, I want to thank you and your team for all the help in designing and building the custom shifter for my T56 Magnum. I absolutely love it !!!!! It fits PERFECTLY !!!! It is a work of art and pure perfection !!!! Thank you so much, Jesse Petas
MoreGood morning Jack, Just a quick note to say how delighted we are with the new Tremec Magnum we installed in our old 1968 Cougar. Our car is not a trailer queen its more like a Steve McQueen driver. We had to put the OD to the test and hit the interstate last Thursday and headed to Springfield IL. for a big car show. Everyone we spoke to asked where we parked the trailer? We dont own a car trailer we drove the 13 hours 780 one way miles. Needless to say we won the long distance award hands down. The next day we made a few stops on Route 66 and decided to head to Pontiac, Illinois. This Magnum makes it so easy to keep up with anything on the road. The hydraulic clutch has been effortless even in big city stop and go traffic. Underhood temps are cool and comfortable. The fuel economy is much better even with a worked over 331 Ford. We are still out on the road enjoying shifting my own gears until Tuesday. I expect we will be close to a 2000 mile round trip with all the side stops and tearin up the interstates. Thank you again for a great very well engineered transmission package. Matt Shuman
MoreGood Morning Jack, I Just wanted to say thanks to you, and your staff, for the Great Customer Service I received with my transmission purchase, and the help with the installation. I know there were some issues and concerns at the beginning with some installation problems on my end, but you and your staff worked closely with me to make sure that I had everything I needed to make the installation right, even swapping the 6 speed transmission for a 5 speed transmission which fit much better in my 1969 Firebird. The fact that you spoke with me personally over the phone, and made some recommendations to me on what you thought would be best for me and my car, made all the difference in the world to how things turned out. Your advice was right on the money, and the final installation went just fine with no hangups. Without your help, I probably would still be fighting the installation of the transmission. Now that everything with the transmission is completed, along with my totally rebuilt 400 motor, I'm enjoying the car more than ever with that 5 speed overdrive transmission. Once again, thank you for all your help, and please thank all the members of your staff that assisted me at different times throughout this process, including Gene, Franky, and Richard. If I come across anyone looking to upgrade their transmission in the future, I will definitely recommend Silver Sport Transmissions to them. Tony LaRosa
MoreDave purchased a TREMEC TKO 600 for his 1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler and sent us these great photos and a testimonial. Richard, Glad to here from you! I couldn’t be happier with this install. I didn’t have to cut anything! Yes my car has a removable shift hump. Everything bolted right in place! We had a break in the weather two weeks ago, I got to take the car for a test drive and am thrilled with how it drives now! This was the best upgrade I have made to any vehicle! Be sure to tell Jeff that I appreciate all the support you guys gave me! I have been recommending SST to everyone that will listen to me! Thanks so much! Dave Clark
MoreA few months ago, I purchased a 1970 Corvette with the intent of installing a TREMEC Magnum 6 speed transmission in it. My Corvette was an LT-1(370 HP) with a 4 speed and 3.70:1 Rear Axle Ratio. In addition to the transmission, we also installed a hydraulic clutch actuator and our new SST Advanced Friction™ STR clutch kit. The STR is designed for engines up to 450 ft. lbs. of torque and to provide light pedal effort and smooth street characteristics. We completed the install, the day before our Christmas vacation and I decided to drive it home to show my family and friends. Home is 890 miles away (Knoxville, TN to Pryor, OK). This is a fairly daunting trip when you consider the car is 48 years old and we had only driven it a few times around the plant. But, I had a lot of confidence in our team and our products so I took off for Oklahoma. The trip home provided a great test of our products. Although it was mainly highway driving (I40), the route took me over the Cumberland Plateau (6% grade) and the cities of Nashville and Memphis during the peak rush hours. Prior to the TREMEC Magnum, 2000 RPM would get me 44 MPH in high gear (4th). With the Magnum, I could get 54 MPH in 5th and 69 MPH in 6th. At 2300 RPM, this increased to 62 MPH in 5th and 79 MPH in 6th. I can’t imagine making this trip without the advantages of an overdrive transmission. The Magnum transmission handled the mountains very easily in 6th gear…even the steepest grades. And, on the open road, it was easy to keep up with or pass the other vehicles. 5th gear was especially important when driving in heavy traffic, like rush hour in Memphis and Nashville. It allowed me to operate in overdrive a relatively slow speeds when my engine couldn’t handle the 6th gear overdrive ratio. Many times, we are asked what the advantage of the Magnum is over the TKO and this is the big advantage to me. You will be able to use overdrive more often if you have the option of a .80 overdrive in addition to a .63 or .64. All of the equipment performed flawlessly. The clutch was very friendly, it has nice street characteristics. The pedal effort was light, no chatter and it gripped very well. The hydraulic actuator felt really nice and it will never need to be adjusted. There were no vibrations and the car ran smoother than it ever had. It is clear why our customers tell us “This is the best upgrade my car ever had”
MoreJim installed a stock, out of the box TREMEC TKO into his 1981 Camaro. He did purchase an offset shifter stub, which put the shifter close to the stock location, but his driveline angles were completely off. Plus the shifter wasn't completely right either. He came to us with this complaint, "While the unmodified version worked with the offset shifter stub....it still did not allow the shifter body to clear inside the shifter opening. This created an annoying driveline vibe because I was not able to lift the tail of the transmission high enough." We sent him our Silver Sport Transmissions PerfectFit™ TREMEC TKO for 2nd Gen F-bodies. The streamlined transmission and compact shifter were able to get the correct driveline height in the tunnel, he only had to massage the tunnel a little where the corners of the TKO interfered. In Jim's experience, the transmission was able to come up an additional 5/8" to 3/4", correcting the angle. He now has no vibration (although he does believe years of driving around with bad driveline angles have damaged his U-joints, which he plans to replace). As for how the transmission shifts, Jim's smile says it all! He likes "that [the SST Shifter] feels so firm". He's proudly wearing his SST hat while taking his Camaro out on a test drive.

MoreAfter much research I ordered a TREMEC 5-Speed PerfectFit Kit from Silver Sport Transmissions for my '55 Chevy which had a 700R4 Automatic. They were very prompt and thorough in repsonding to my questions. I received a complete quote quickly and in fact, never received a quote at all from one of SST's competitors. The kit was indeed very complete. A couple of questions came up during installation, but were promptly answered and all went smoothly. I am very satisfied with all phases of this purchase. you can't go wrong dealing with Silver Sport Transmissions. - Rusty Muller
MoreI have finished my project with your product that was purchased by my installer and I am pleased with the outcome. Thanks.
MoreIt’s great to work with all you fine people. In fact, you might be interested to know that we have history; that we’ve all been down this road together before. My ’66 Sting Ray depicted in the attached picture is fitted with a Keisler Perfect Fit TKO-600 kit, since about 2008. With the factory 427 and 4.11: 1 rear axle ratio, the 5 speed overdrive transmission makes this car so much more pleasurably drivable than the original designers at Chevrolet could ever possibly have imagined. All best, Robert
MoreJack, The 1957 Eldorado Seville I am working on needs a replacement for the original Turbo-Hydramatic. Having refreshed the original engine considerably, bored and stroked to about 400 cubic inches, upgraded with LS-rods, light weight forged aluminum pistons with ultra-slender metric rings, reconditioned dual 4-barrels and a performance regrind of the original cam by Isky Cams, bolting the old transmission back up to this rejuvenated power plant would be futile, like encouraging one’s grandmother to compete in a wet “T-shirt” contest. Even the most ardent desire to compete could never conceal the near total lack of the attributes necessary for success . . . Thanks again, All best, Robert Goodrick

MoreFriends, I had a special day yesterday and would like to share my experience. Just as I was getting in my '57 Chevy convertible to go home from the car show in Eagle River, three men with a blind teenage girl came up to ask questions about the car. What engine, How long have you had it ? etc. long story short.. Her dad asked if he could show the car to his blind daughter. How does a person show a blind person something ?? I didn't know what to expect but said "Sure". Her dad showed her the car by holding her hand and touching almost every area, both inside & out and explained to her what it was or did.. Fenders, hood, chrome pieces, grill, glass even the tires. He was very thorough. When they approached the passenger door, I opened it and offered her to sit inside. Her dad showed her the dash, clock, door handles and window cranks with his & her hands, explaining each as they were touched.. I asked her to hold her hands out and I dropped the keys in her hands then folded her hands around the keys. I told her to give the keys to her dad and take a drive around the parking lot.. I closed the door and he slid in behind the wheel.. I felt a lump in my throat.. This was something special for me. He drove her around the parking lot for about 5 minutes. She was smiling when she got out and her dad had tears streaming down his face.. I asked her for a hug and I got a one of the best ever.. It was an emotional time. My eyes leaked too.. We all shook hands and they went inside to see the car show.. I was smiling the most. It was really nice to help bring an experience like that to someone less fortunate... Taylor is 16, a near 4.0 student and completed Alaska's Blind education program. Soon Taylor will continue her advanced education in New York . Several people watched as Taylor's dad drove around the parking lot and waved as they drove by.. I am blessed in many ways.. and yesterday, being a car guy with Taylor was a very special day. Ben Ben also shared some photos with us of his car and his recent visit to beautiful Mt. Denali in Alaska. His 57 Bel Air has a Silver Sport Transmission Tremec TKO 5-speed kit in it!
MoreCharlie Owens first drove this 1974 Camaro when he was 16. It belonged to a friend of his from high school. Sean Cagle was days away from graduating, enjoying some time at the lake, when he dove in and broke his neck. It was May 22, 1983 and he would've graduated in just four days on May 26th. His brother, Jeff, stored Sean's 1974 Camaro away as a tribute to the brother he lost. Thirty-two years later, Jeff runs into Sean's good friend Charlie Owens. Charlie remembered Sean's 2nd Gen and even got to drive it when he was 16. Jeff sold the car to Charlie and Charlie got to work restoring his buddy's car. The first thing Charlie updated on his car was the engine with a 383 Stroker Kit with an Eagle Rotating Assembly built by James Grey of Greytech Autobuilt. The new engine was great and he loved it, but the original Muncie 4-speed just wasn't cutting it. He turned to Silver Sport Transmissions and soon he had a Tremec TKO 5-Speed PerfectFit Kit installed. Charlie loves the car now. He says the Tremec TKO 5-speed made it so enjoyable to drive, especially on the interstate and highways. He knows he doesn't have a show car, he doesn't want one. He just wants to drive his friend's car, a tribute to a friend who was lost too soon.
MoreFrank purchased the Tremec TKO 600 PerfectFit Kit for his 1969 Camaro I just took on the transmission on its madden voyage this week and it all works great wow what a difference!!! Thanks Jack!
MoreHi Jeff, Took the car about 20 miles to a cruise, and it drove beautiful. With 3:55 gears my 1st gear is effortless, and it cruises great at 70 to 75. Your trans kit is probably the one best modification a person could make to a classic. I also included some pictures of my cross member mods. Like it or hate it, it made putting the trans in a snap, and it's not going any where. All of the staff are wonderful also. Thank's for helping me make the right decision. Lonnie
MoreWe often hear an overdrive transmission is the single most dramatic improvement our customers make to their cars. Not too many of them back it up with dynamometer results. Our customer, John P. sent us this email with his dyno results: I bought a TKO600 kit for my 1973 Corvette from you last April. I got it running last weekend, and the difference between my TH400 and this TKO600 is astounding. I can hardly believe I ran that TH400 for all those years. It was nicely built with higher stall, shift kit, 34 tooth sprag & good clutches & steels, but it is still an absolute slush box compared to the performance of the TKO. This was worth every penny of the cost. And the kit was beautiful, everything was there and of excellent quality and perfect fit. The thing that impressed me the most was the increase in power and response to my wheels. I had expected to feel some of course, but the amount I did feel was much greater than my expectations. I put it on a chassis dyno this morning and the numbers prove it: The TH400 used up fully 25% of engine power, this TKO600 uses only 12%. Half! I got an increase of 60 lb/ft of torque and 48 horsepower to the rear wheels! I did not expect that great a difference, but the numbers prove it. And I shall show you: Attached are my dyno sheets. One for the engine on the engine dyno with full exhaust and air cleaner as on the car, one with the TH400 on the chassis dyno, and one with the TKO600 on the same chassis dyno. I'll also send a photo of the engine on the dyno and one of my car. It is a bit of a street rat. The paint is original, with chips, stains and faded front bumper. So is the interior, with ripped driver seat and some loose trim. Radio, A/C, and other useless stuff has been removed. None of that helps it run better. But underneath there are many suspension, brake, drive train and other upgrades. The engine is a mildly built 383 with AFR heads, smallish roller cam and OEM Quadrajet. I run a 3.36 rear end. Thanks for your help & the great kit. I love it. The 500 miles I have on it so far have been the most pleasurable and fun I have ever had driving this car. It is the best thing I have done for the car and really adds a crowning touch to all the other modifications I have made --and will keep making. Sincerely, John P. Loveland, CO As you can see, John is really happy with the Tremec TKO600 5-Speed and his PerfectFit™ Kit. His results made us curious about why his horsepower and torque improved exponentially, so we asked the smartest guy we know, our in-house engineer, Dick McCord. Dick examined the dyno test results and took inventory of the drivetrain components in John’s car. This is what he found: The TKO has a lower rotating mass (inertia) than the larger, bulkier TH400. Energy is lost as the heavy gears rotate. The TH400 torque converter efficiency (even with a higher than stock stall speed) would affect the dyno results. The TKO was designed to be more efficient than older model transmissions; so many considerations were made to reduce parasitic power loss. The A41 automatic, LGT-700, and Magnum 6-Speed would have all had similar results for the same reasons as the TKO. Dick also pointed out that when the car is in 5th gear with an overdrive ratio of 0.82 verses the TH400’s 3rd gear at 1:1, the reduced engine RPM at highway speeds will increase gas mileage and reduce cabin noise. These are some impressive results.
