Donnie Bachman was a good, family man. He watched out for his family and his neighbors in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. In fact, he helped shut down a drug house in his neighborhood. His neighbors knew and appreciated that he was looking out for them. Early one Friday morning as he came home from work, Donnie was shot and killed in front of his home. The local police believe Donnie was targeted simply because he did all the right things. The police are still looking for the person who murdered him.
Donnie had just turned 49 and his wife and three children loved him dearly. His neighbors remember him as a kind and polite man. He was a hard-working man, a supervising mechanic at a bus company. He’s the kind of man who would do what he could to help others. He deserves justice.
His wife, Lori, and friends came together with a plan. His friend Bill Feist, who used to race with Donnie, would oversee the completion of Donnie’s 1986 Corvette project and race it in his memory and for all victims of violent crimes. Billy Feist contacted us with Donnie’s story. We really wanted to help and “do the right thing” for Donnie.
Bill Feist plans to race the ’86 Corvette in the Super Touring Over (STO) class road races and hill climbs. Since Bill needs to shift at high RPM levels, we recommended he go with the Tremec T56 Magnum 6-Speed which can shift smoothly up to 7800 RPMs. Our new shifter design for the T56 Magnum has very short, crisp, quick shifts. It’s perfect for racing and for anyone who appreciates a responsive transmission. This new design will enable us to further expand our PerfectFit™ line for the 6-speed.
We’re so proud of Donnie for doing the right thing and we’re happy his friends chose to come to us for their transmission. We will do our best to share his story and continue to do the right thing.
Watch this video for a story we really liked on a car club that did a fundraiser for Donnie.
