How To: Tremec TKO will not shift when unboxed

Hi!  I'm Ben DeHaven.

One of the comments that we get from our customers is they receive their transmission and the input shaft will not turn out of the box. Usually what happens is when the transmissions are shipped, they'll get stood up on their ends, the blocker rings, synchronizers will fall against each other, jam up, and then you're stuck with an input shaft that doesn't turn.

Easy way to fix this is to take your clutch disk, couple of shop rags/heavy gloves... Just put the disk on the input shaft and give it a few good turns, back and forth, until it turns easily... and then you're ready to go.

If that does not do the job, the other thing you have to do is take off this silver plate.  Take off the four screws, pry the plate off with your pry bar... there will be a bead of silicone sealer around here... When you're looking at these shifter dogs, they should all be in the same line.  If they are not, if one has been pushed out of position, you can take your pry bar and just very easily slip that back to where it's supposed to be.  When you get them all lined up, take a bead of Permatex Ultra Grey sealer around the top, put your plate back in place, put the four bolts back in, and you're ready to proceed with your installation.

As always if you've got any questions, feel free to give me a call, I'm here for you.
